If you are
a higher education student in Cardiff you will want to know about
the Student Christian Movement (SCM) activities. Pop in at the Anglican
Chaplaincy, 61 Park Place any Wednesday at 5 p.m. to get connected
to something real. This is an ecumenical scene, so come prepared
to be welcomed whatever denominational hat you wear.
In the absence of a United Reformed Church member of the chaplaincy staff, City Church provides a welcoming home for students in the Reformed tradition. We're just around the corner from Cardiff University (see map) and we're rather well known for our extraordinarily warm welcome. If you want to keep your faith development going with the same excitement you are experiencing in your university studies, you will want to know about "The Way", an exploration of Christianity as a way of life, meeting Tuesdays 6.30 p.m. in the church refectory--beginning with a light meal.

We also lay on coffee evenings from time to time for exploring particular issues, as well as other learning opportunities. Have a look at some of our on-line courses. Several young adults among us are currently engaged in exploring the faith as new Christians or in preparation for confirming their baptism. In addition to learning opportunities, there is a regular schedule of social events, like th Harvest Supper on 29 September and our annual curry evening 20 October celebrating One World Week. Once a month the congregation stays after worship for a light meal of soup and bread--a good opportunity to get to know people! You'll find other Christians your age at City United Reformed Church.
We are a church of open hearts and open minds. City Church has officially declared itself an "Open and Affirming Church", committed to welcoming marginlised seekers and believers who do not easily find a welcome elsewhere. If you have found that Christianity's straightjacket of expectations to conform fits too tightly for comfort, don't give up. We are committed to providing you with a safe space in which who you as a child of God can blossom and flourish. If such a commitment to inclusion and growth is the kind of challenge you are looking for, come along and join us. |
