| We
are indebted to Elizabeth Stuart’s study guide “Religion
is a Queer Thing” which, in September 2001, provided the impetus
for a small group to begin, together with the minister, exploring
the main tenets of gay theology. This led, twelve months later, to
the formation of a group of lesbians and gay men, which continues
to meet regularly, with the aims of defining our own life experiences
and thinking theologically about them. We are committed not only to
broadening our circle as we continue this journey, but also to sharing
what we have found to be a Christian message of liberation for all,
relevant to the real world and untainted by heterosexism and homophobia.
We have strong links with the Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement,
both locally and nationally as well as other organisations and,
with the full and active support of City Church are happy to offer
help and support to anyone searching to reconcile issues surrounding
faith and sexuality.
In addition to ordinary gatherings, we are hold occasional workshops and have had a stall at the annual Gay/Lesbian Mardi Gras. With insufficient funding for the Mardi Gras this year it has been relaced by a Cardiff Pride event on 6 September, but we haven't had the time to get a stall together this year. We are hosting the Gay Chorus Concert on Friday evening the 5th of September, and the annual LGCM carol service in December..
